Hand Raise a Hoglet - Virtual Gift
Last summer we have admitted over 200 hoglets to the centre, that is a lot of mouths to feed! The hoglets are lactose intolerant so require a specialised formula. Hoglets that are admitted under two weeks old require even more specific care, where we use fennel tea (instead of water) to mix the formula to try and prevent bloat which can sadly be fatal. Specialist teats with 1ml syringes are used to allow the hoglets to carry out the ‘paddling’ behaviour they would with mum. As the hoglets progress, we introduce puppy mousse into the formula, which is highly palatable and rich in protein and nutrients. Slowly they are weaned onto kitten biscuits; again high in protein (and small in size) and tinned dog and cat food.
Hoglets grow very quickly, they are blind and deaf for the first two weeks and require hourly or two hourly feeding at this stage. When their eyes open, their development speed increases. Between 6-8 weeks, they are weaned and ready to go back to the wild.Buy this gift and it will help us hand raise an abandoned or orphaned hoglet.
